Denizli is a province located in the Aegean Region of Turkey. Its population is 1,051,056 as of 2021. Located on the skirts of the northern slopes of Akdağ (Babadag), Denizli is a new city, located on a plateau slightly split by the streams that meet the Aksu Stream, a tributary of the Büyük Menderes. The original city was located at a place called Laodikeia (Laodicaea), 6-7 kilometers north of here. Laodikeia, which was destroyed as a result of the wars between the Seljuks and Byzantines and especially the waterways were damaged, started to be abandoned in time and the settlement started to move towards Ladik, Denizli, where there are abundant water resources, starting from the 11th century. The city suffered great damage during an earthquake in 1702-1703 and was later rebuilt. Denizli, which is located on a natural road leading to the interior from the Aegean coast, became rapidly crowded as a result of the development of this location and the agricultural activities around it, especially after the improvement of the highways in the 1950s, and its population, which was 22,000 in 1950, has increased approximately 25 times in the intervening 60 years. Denizli, which has a very developed industry, tourism, trade and service sector, is one of the most developed cities in Turkey. He is the head of the Anatolian Tigers. It is among the most important capitals of textile in the world. In addition, Serinhisar district meets 85% of Turkey's need for chickpeas and chickpeas products. Denizli is among the top 10 economies of Turkey. Kent has a good reputation in the USA and EU markets for towels, bathrobes and home textiles. Its weather and nature reflect the averages of the Aegean Region. There are rooster statues at several points in the city. Pamukkale, a world-renowned natural wonder, is one of the symbols of the city. Pamukkale is on the UNESCO world cultural heritage list. Karahayıt is also an international thermal center. In addition, the highest mountain, Mount Honaz, is also the highest mountain of the Aegean Region (2532 m).
